JOB: Media and Communications Officer, Welsh NHS Confederation

Location: Cardiff

Salary: £26,000

Duration: 15 months fixed-term contract

The Welsh NHS Confederation seeks a skilled, dynamic and enthusiastic Media and Communications Officer on a 17 month fixed term contract.

The Welsh NHS Confederation is a membership organisation that represents the seven Health Boards and three NHS Trusts in Wales.

The role of Media and Communications Officer will cover a wide range of duties in support of the overall activity of the Welsh NHS Confederation, particularly through a strong communications and media programme. The Confederation aims to lead the health policy debate and this role seeks to enhance the Confederation’s reputation as the authoritative voice of the NHS in Wales, and as a place for innovative and challenging thinking.

Key responsibilities will include handling of day-to-day communications with national, regional and local media, social media, website content and publications.   The post holder will advise on media management, including drafting lines to take, producing press releases and statements, and all other aspects of media relations.

The successful applicant will also contribute with other team members to the Confederation’s overall programme of work, including events, policy and public affairs activity.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
